Claims not one but two industry firsts. Now that's just showing off...
Sanyo has announced the launch of its "most advanced home cinema projector", the PLV-Z3000.
And if the Z3000’s on-paper spec is anything to go by, Sanyo’s claims are more than mere marketing guff. For starters, it claims an extremely high contrast ratio of 65000:1, promising the sort of cinematic black levels that LCD technology generally struggles to deliver.
The Z3000 also enjoys a full HD resolution, a remarkably quiet minimum running noise level of 19dB, and a new generation of 120Hz panel that should reduce judder when there’s lots of motion in a picture.
Uplifting shifting
Setting the Z3000 up, meanwhile, benefits from a healthy 2x optical zoom, together with what Sanyo boldly claims is "the industry’s most advanced lens shift function".
When it comes to connections, highlights include two HDMIs and two component video inputs, while other notable features include the projector industry’s first 5:5 pull down mode for 24p playback, a Cinema colour filter, and an automated lens cover.
If this all sounds mighty interesting to you, the price we’re expecting to see the Z3000 going for is around £2300.
