Global news giant signs up as part of Freesat's growing network of channels
Freesat, the free-to-air satellite service, is to start broadcasting CNN International as part of its channel line up.
CNN International joins major news programs including BBC News and Al Jazeera as a member of Freesat. It is one of the biggest international news channels with a world audience of over one billion. It is also the first US news channel to be broadcast across all of Sky, Freeview, Freesat and cable in the UK.
More free TV
Launched as a joint venture between the BBC and ITV in May 2008, Freesat's range of channels continues to grow from modest beginnings.
It is also increasing the range and profile of its HD content, with the recently completed Six Nations rugby championship having been broadcast in high definition.
Expanding line up
In addition to CNN, two other channels – Rural TV and JML Home & DIY – have also been added to the Freesat stable. The three new additions are available immediately.
