Have a guess which country has been left out of the term 'global'...
Rumours have abounded for the last couple of weeks that Sony might be planning to cut the price of the PS3 at long last.
However, it turns out that the rumour mill wasn't quite on the right track this time. For it's actually the old PS2 console that Sony has decided to make cheaper.
Now the console can be had for $99 in the US, and 99 Euros in Europe.
This is great so far as it goes, of course. But unfortunately Sony's new global pricing policy doesn't actually extend to the UK, where the price is going to remain at £99. Why? Because of the impoverished state of the Great British pound, apparently. Bloody economics.
Also, just for the record, this PS2 news doesn't even get close to compensating for the disappointment we felt when we discovered that the mooted Sony price cut wasn't going to apply to the PS3.
