Third-gen hybrid beats all comers, continues to break new ground for electric motoring
The Toyota Prius has outsold every other car on the market in Japan for the second month running.
The acclaimed hybrid, which uses a combination of an electric power cell and a 1.8-litre petrol engine, managed 22,292 sales in its home country in June, fully 9,000 more than the next best.

The figure jumped from just under 11,000 in May – which was still enough to head the sales charts – to June's impressive figures on the back of the launch of the third-generation Prius, which will be available in the UK next month.
• Japan has delivered its judgement on the new Prius, it seems, and you can see ours in the latest issue of iGIZMO. We were in Sweden to put the car through its paces at the official European launch. Check out our video road test here.
