World at War: no end in sight

Call of Duty: World at War makes it three weeks in a row at the top

With the run-up to Christmas, we're expecting a lot of activity in the game charts, but unless there's a game packing a draw quicker than Call of Duty: World at War, nothing's going to shift this title from the top spot.

It holds ground as the number one best-selling game again this week, but can it soldier on for yet another week?

Racing up the charts, Need for Speed: Undercover puts pedal to the game-selling metal. The racer where you get to take down a street racing syndicate, takes down a few competitors as it shifts from fourth to second in one week.

FIFA 09 has been in the top five for so long, it wouldn't be the same without it. For those who fear change, fret not as it still remains sitting comfortably in third place.

Last week we saw Mario Kart skid into the top five with the help of the 'arry and the rest of the Redknapps. Despite MK not needing the same salvation as his Tottenham side, Mr Redknapp's midas touch spreads to the gaming world too by keeping the game in the charts for the second successive week. Being a great game for the family this Christmas we can see this continuing to be a big seller right until the silver bells start chiming.

The perennially popular Dr Kawashima's Brain Training sits in fifth place as Nintendo DS owners beef up their grey matter in time for Christmas day bouts of Trivial Pursuit.

This week’s top 5:

1. Call of Duty: World at War (Activision): Will we see the World at War end its run next week?
2. Need for Speed: Undercover (EA Games): Undercover lovers ignite sales
3. FIFA 09 (EA Games): Gamers, unlike refs, not blind by playing the best footy title around
4. Mario Kart (Nintendo): Family fun with a plastic steering wheel
5. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo): Exercising the noggin with puzzles on the handheld
